March Hare

With milk glass fixed upon the skies
Our sister shifts through endless gloom
And leaving lowlands where the lie, she leaps!
From reeds
to flames
to die in cinders,
burnt upon the moon.

Hares feature in many cultural mythologies around the world. Some folk traditions have the hare as a witch intent on causing mischief. Other tales associate hares (and rabbits) with the moon and themes of rebirth and resurrection. In Chinese folklore, there is a Jade Rabbit who lives upon the moon.
